We offer individuals, families, and organizations a variety of ways to help us further our mission of providing health care to the community in a competent, nurturing, and healing environment. The Tree of Life Donor Recognition Program is a lasting tribute to loved ones using recognition “leaves” or “stones” placed on our “Tree of Life.” Every recognition leaf and stone is a lasting tribute to the memory of a loved one, and a symbol of the pledge you have made to help Highlands Hospital serve the region for years to come.
Other programs and vehicles for planned and charitable giving include bequests, charitable trusts, charitable gift annuities, securities and real estate, life insurance, and planned giving through retirement plan assets.
Bequests – A gift made to a charity through a donor’s will.
Charitable Trusts – Money or property given in trust to a charitable organization in return for tax benefits and a fixed dollar or percentage of income for the donor’s lifetime, or as otherwise specified.
Charitable Gift Annuities – Cash or securities given in exchange for a fixed amount of annual income and tax benefits.
Contributions to the Highlands Hospital Endowment Fund – The Endowment fund is administered by the Community Foundation of Fayette County. All contributions given to the endowment are pooled into a single fund and invested. We then use the interest from the investment to upgrade services and equipment at our facility. This fund allows donors’ contributions to perpetually support the hospital.
Life Estate Contract – Real estate donated in return for tax advantages and the lifetime use of the property by the donor.
Securities – Stocks and bonds donated outright in favor of reduced taxes.
Life Insurance – Life insurance may be donated with the hospital named as beneficiary.
