CURRENT OPENINGS

 Director – Behavioral Health Services – The Director of Behavioral Health is responsible for exploring and recommending changes and innovations that will keep the Highlands Hospital Behavioral Health Program a leader in the field, and for ultimately implementing any approved program enhancements in an efficient and cost effective manner.

The candidate must embrace change, be flexible, innovative, fiscally responsible, and knowledgeable of best practices in the behavioral health arena. This position requires oversight of a multidisciplinary team, physician collaboration, and excellent communication skills. The candidate will have management and inpatient behavioral health experience and a willingness to develop new service lines. Outpatient behavioral health experience preferred.

Education & Job Requirements

  1. Master’s in Social Work (must be licensed in PA), Psychology, Nursing or related field is required;
  2. Five years progressively responsible positions in behavioral health;
  3. Management skills needed to oversee operations, quality, customer service, budget development and control, and enhancement/development of new service lines;
  4. Exceptional communication skills and ability to work collegially with other disciplines;
  5. Possess a thorough knowledge of behavioral health rules and regulations and have the ability to interact with regulatory agencies, insurance providers, and other professional and community groups;
  6. Experience with staff recruitment, development and performance evaluation;
  7. Ability to enhance program quality, operational effectiveness & efficiency, create a culture of excellence in customer service, and a passion for change.

Psychiatrist – Outpatient Clinic – Highlands Hospital has an excellent opportunity available for a self-motivated psychiatrist who will provide clinical care for clients and oversight of the hospitals’ newly opened behavioral health outpatient clinic. The Hospital is seeking 16 hours per week of psychiatric time.

Qualifications: Requires a medical degree in Psychiatry, a valid PA medical license, and successful credentialing on the hospital’s medical staff.

Responsibilities:

MANAGEMENT

Staff Accountant – Full-time. Mon-Fri Daylight.  Works with the Accounting Manager performing all Hospital accounting functions; helps direct other department functions, i.e. payroll and accounts payable; and is an information resource for the Chief Financial Officer, other members of the administrative staff and department heads.

Position requires: Bachelors degree in accounting with prior experience, preferably in healthcare finance. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be proficient in adapting to various computer software.

SURGICAL SERVICES

RN- Part-time. Requires 6 -12 months relevant experience in hospital OR or surgicenter (or 2 years in obstetrics that included scrubbing/circulating).  Experience with gynecological procedures a plus.   Weekdays daylight, with some evening and weekend call.

Surgical Tech- Full-time. Requires completion of accredited training program (or equivalent on the job training).  Recent hospital or surgi-center experience preferred.  Weekdays daylight, with some evening and weekend call.

MEDICAL SURGICAL

RN- Full-time.  Requires current PA license (or GN with valid temporary practice permit).  Knowledge of nursing principles and theory of biophysical and behavioral sciences.  Good interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, family, and health care team members.  Must demonstrate competency through mechanisms defined by Hospital policy.

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

RN Staff Nurse – Part-time. Current PA Registered License, Requires 1 year critical care or emergency room experience preferred and critical care training. ACLS certification required; PALS required within 1 year of hire.

IMAGING

Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Casual.  Requires nuclear medicine certification from either ARRT or NMTCB. Shifts may be prescheduled or on call-in basis.

CASE MANAGEMENT

Case Manager - Casual.  Requires current PA RN license, plus 3 years work experience in a clinical  medical/surgical setting.  In addition, a strong Utilization/Case Management background in an acute care setting is preferred.  Primarily daylight, Monday-Friday, Weekends, Holidays, and on Call with overtime based on 40 hours per week.

AUTISM PROGRAM:

Staff is currently being added due to enrollment growth.

Classroom Behavioral Therapist [CBT] – 

The Classroom Behavioral Therapist, or “CBT”, works intensively with 1-2 students under the direction of a Coordinating Teacher. The CBT follows a structured ABA regimen, to continually reinforce behavioral changes that truly make a difference in the daily lives of the students and their families.

The CBT requires a bachelor’s degree in education, special education, psychology, speech, or other developmentally-related field. A CBT must be self-motivated, physically able to manage active students, and emotionally able to remain patient and focused.

 Previous Experience working with children with autism preferred. Current CPSL clearances within 30 days of hire.

OTHER STAFF POSITONS

Environmental Services (Housekeeping) – Casual position to provide relief coverage.  Work typically involves 8 hour shifts, which includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.  Requires high school diploma or equivalent preferred.  Physical ability to perform such tasks as buffing/scrubbing floors.  Must have ability to perform repetitive cleaning throughout the workday following detailed policy and procedure.  Ability to lift minimum 25 lb. (up to 100 lb.)

Lab Medical Technologist/Technician – Part-time position. MT or MTL.  ASCP or eligible.  Must have ability to work all areas of laboratory without direct supervision.  Rotating shifts, weekends, holidays. Current CPSL Clearances within 30 days of hire.

Respiratory Therapist -  Casual. Completion of a Respiratory Therapy program from an approved school, and certification or registration as a Respiratory Therapist (or must be registry eligible). Experience in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and in geriatric, adult, and pediatric respiratory care. Training/experience in sleep lab, or willingness to train

 Clerk-Typist – Part-time.  H.S. graduate or the equivalent. 30 wpm typing and ability to demonstrate basic word processing skills on a PC. Knowledge of medical terminology and Good organizational skills and communication skills, to relate well with all levels of staff.

Physician Practice Billing Assistant Temporary- Part-time.   Assist with processing of  patient bills for various physician services.  Requires thorough knowledge of insurance billing, professional fee billing, collections, CPT4 and ICD9 coding, and physician practice systems.

Mental Health Aide -  Part-time.  Provide necessary physical/personal care, and interact with patients and families as guided by professional staff. Current CPSL clearances within 30 days of hire.

GENERAL EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION

Nursing Specialty Areas:

Behavioral Health – We provide the only inpatient behavioral health care in Fayette County, which has been a specialized service of Highlands Hospital for over 30 years!  Traditional behavioral health treatment is enhanced with other healing modalities such as music therapy, guided imagery, and drum circle activities.  29 beds are located among two comfortable and attractive inpatient units.  The larger unit was recently reopened after a complete renovation, which incorporates enhanced safety features for both staff and patients, improved design for patient care and activities, and many other state of the art features for modern behavioral health care.

Medical Surgical – Our Med-Surg units serve pediatric/adult/geriatric patients, and include several telemetry beds.

Critical Care/ICU – Adult Intensive Care within the MedSurg Unit. Critical Care/ACLS educated RNs providing a higher level of care.

Emergency Department – Full-service 24/7 ED staffed with specialty qualified physicians and RNs, and containing many state-of-the art Emergency Medicine technologies.

Surgical Services – 2 Surgical Suites, Endoscopy and Procedure Room. Providing 24/7 inpatient and outpatient peri-operative and endoscopy care for adult and pediatric patients.

Short-Procedure Unit – 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. operating hours, M-F. The SPU is a six bed pre/post operative recovery area for all outpatient procedures. The unit also administers intravenous therapy and injections on an outpatient basis.
