Pharmacy Director – Seeking a Pharmacy Director to work in a friendly/family-like culture. Directs and controls the overall clinical operation of the hospital’s pharmacy services, provides oversight and direction to other hospital pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, works closely with the medical and nursing staff and other clinical department managers, works toward full implementation of the 340b Drug Program, and works as a staff pharmacist as needed. The Pharmacy Director also provides oversight for the Pharmaceutical Hazardous Waste Program. Must have a valid Pennsylvania Pharmacy license. Past hospital experience is preferred.
Director of Nursing – The Director of Nursing will assume authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of nursing services in collaboration with senior staff. Candidate must be able to positively promote change, cost efficiency, quality, and staff commitment. Will coordinate and coach a team of nurse managers in a constantly evolving environment to ensure that care delivered is patient focused. This position will ensure consistency in the delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision. Is an active member of Performance Improvement and Patient Safety.
Requires 7-10 years varied nursing experience, including management or other related administrative responsibilities. Must be familiar with hospital regulatory requirements. BSN required.
Med-Surg Nursing Manager – Manage Medical-Surgical nursing unit with 35 beds, including telemetry and “acuity-adaptable beds” which are designated as needed for patients requiring higher level of care. Must be able to consistently promote quality patient care, customer service, and team approach with staff. Requires 3-5 years hospital nursing experience, including supervisory or other related administrative responsibilities. Must be familiar with hospital regulatory requirements. Current Pa. RN, BSN preferred.
RN Shift Manager – Part-Time position for RN to function as House Supervisor including all off-shifts and weekends. Requires nursing experience and current ACLS, with critical care training and some management experience preferred.
Psychiatrist – Outpatient Clinic – Highlands Hospital has an excellent opportunity available for a self-motivated psychiatrist who will provide clinical care for clients and oversight of the hospitals’ newly opened behavioral health outpatient clinic. The Hospital is seeking 16 hours per week of psychiatric time. Qualifications: Requires a medical degree in Psychiatry, a valid PA medical license, and successful credentialing on the hospital’s medical staff.
Staff Nurse / RN- For Med-Surg unit with Acuity Adaptable beds that can be designated as needed for those patients requiring a higher level of care, including intensive monitoring and specialized technology. Staff MUST have or be willing to attain critical care training. Requires current Pa license Knowledge of nursing principles and theory of biophysical and behavioral sciences. Good interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, family, and health care team members. Must demonstrate competency through mechanisms defined by Hospital policy.
Patient Care Assistant [PCA] – Part-time. Requires HS diploma or equivalent, and ability to provide necessary physical assistance, personal care, and monitoring of vital signs. Skills may be obtained through formal training, CNA certification, relevant work experience, or on the job training. Must be flexible to work various shifts, rotating weekends, holidays, etc. Will be oriented to multiple nursing units (med-surg, SPU, ER) and may be assigned where needed.
RN Staff Nurse – Part-time and Full-time. Current PA Registered License, Requires 1 year critical care or emergency room experience preferred and critical care training. ACLS certification required; PALS required within 1 year of hire.
Staff Nurse / RN – Part-time. Must have related experience or sincere interest in developing knowledge and skills in behavioral health nursing.
Mental Health Aide – High School education or equivalent. Physical ability to provide direct total physical care for patients; good observation skills. Completion of approved crises intervention program (required upon hire or by attendance at first class offered by the hospital) Ability to provide necessary physical/personal care, as acquired through nursing aide training. Relevant work experience, or on the job training during Highlands probation period. Ability to interact with patients and families in a therapeutic manner, as acquired through. Psychiatric tech training, related education, and/or relevant work experience; or demonstrates adequate understanding of appropriate patient/family interaction in the mental health setting. CPSL clearances within 30 days of hire or transfer to the department.
Nuclear Medicine Technologist – Casual. Requires nuclear medicine certification from either ARRT or NMTCB. Shifts may be prescheduled or on call-in basis.
MRI Technologist- Casual. Requires completion of hospital or college-based AMA-approved school of radiologic technology, current MRI certification with the AART.
Tech Assistant/Phlebotomist -Part-time and Casual. Requires recent training or experience. Will perform venipunctures on inpatients and outpatients, as well as other related functions for clinical laboratory. Rotating shifts, including weekends and holiday.
Staff is currently being added due to enrollment growth.
Classroom Behavioral Therapist [CBT] –
The Classroom Behavioral Therapist, or “CBT”, works intensively with 1-2 students under the direction of a Coordinating Teacher. The CBT follows a structured ABA regimen, to continually reinforce behavioral changes that truly make a difference in the daily lives of the students and their families.
The CBT requires a bachelor’s degree in education, special education, psychology, speech, or other developmentally-related field. A CBT must be self-motivated, physically able to manage active students, and emotionally able to remain patient and focused.
Previous Experience working with children with autism preferred. Current CPSL clearances within 30 days of hire.

OTHER STAFF POSITIONS
Observation Sitter/ Housekeeping - Part-time. Primarily evening and night shift, M-F and rotating weekends for 1:1 patient observation as needed. Will perform housekeeping duties when no patients are assigned, and possibly if needed for day shift. Previous housekeeping experience preferred, but not required. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to read and write legibly. Ability to lift minimum 25 lb. (up to 100 lb.)
Aerobic / Yoga Instructor – Casual. Group Fitness Instructors promote wellness through aerobics and/or yoga. They are contracted as an individual service to the wellness center. They develop and perform classes of aerobics or yoga upon demands of wellness center members.
Requirements – Current licensure of Group Fitness Instructing. CPR certification preferred. Seeking applicants with a background in health fitness/wellness field, as well as those who have strong people skills.
Medical Office Assistant – Part-Time Position– For physician practices, to perform front and back office duties. Requires experience, strong computer skills, and willingness to travel between offices. Seeking graduates from an accredited Medical Assistant program. Physician’s office or other clinical experience preferred.
Pharmacy Technician -Part-Time position. Must possess basic computer skills, mathematical aptitude, and attention to detail. Daylight, including rotating weekends.
Must possess a High School Diploma or the equivalent and must meet ONE of the following requirements for education/work experience:
** Successful completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program or certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board; with at least one year relevant pharmacy experience
** Certification through the National Pharmacy Technician Board, Inc. with at least one year of relevant pharmacy technician experience.
** Minimum of two years relevant Hospital Pharmacy technician experience.
** Completion of four years of a six-year Pharmacy Degree Program, with at least one year of relevant experience.
GENERAL EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION
Nursing Specialty Areas:
Behavioral Health – We provide the only inpatient behavioral health care in Fayette County, which has been a specialized service of Highlands Hospital for over 30 years! Traditional behavioral health treatment is enhanced with other healing modalities such as music therapy, guided imagery, and drum circle activities. 29 beds are located among two comfortable and attractive inpatient units. The larger unit was recently reopened after a complete renovation, which incorporates enhanced safety features for both staff and patients, improved design for patient care and activities, and many other state of the art features for modern behavioral health care.
Medical Surgical/AAB – Our Med Surg units serve pediatric/adult/geriatric patients, and include several telemetry beds. In addition, Acuity-Adaptable beds can be designated as needed for those patients requiring a higher level of care, including specialized technology, and intensive monitoring by specially trained nursing staff.
Emergency Department – Full-service 24/7 ED staffed with specialty qualified physicians and RNs, and containing many state-of-the art Emergency Medicine technologies.
Surgical Services – 2 Surgical Suites, Endoscopy and Procedure Room. Providing 24/7 inpatient and outpatient peri-operative and endoscopy care for adult and pediatric patients.
Short-Procedure Unit – 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. operating hours, M-F. The SPU is a six bed pre/post operative recovery area for all outpatient procedures. The unit also administers intravenous therapy and injections on an outpatient basis.
